The 4g usually get better battery life then the 3g cameras. What camera model? GC-?????? Make sure firmware is up to date and power save is turned on.

I use golf cart batteries and get a year , feels to me like the 4gs do better on battery than my 3s.  Some I just switch 5ah 6vs and those last about 2 weeks.

The 4g cameras are much better on battery life, 4g is faster than 3g so there's less transition time which equates to better battery life. Plus I'm sure there's other improvements to the camera itself.

My fresh AA BATTERIES WERE INSTALLED 3 days ago on my 2 g4 cameras. Remote location but service is decent. Usually 2 bars. Sometimes 3.
One camera took about 200 photos now shows P3
The other camera took about 30 pics now shows P3.
    What could possibly be wrong.
I had a 3g camera at one of these location for about 3 years and the battery life was always good for 3 months usually

Two or three bars is not especially good service for a 4G camera. What model camera? GC-what?

Alkaline batteries or lithium? Is there any chance the batteries are from a bad batch or not fresh?

Do you have power saving ON in the camera settings?

I have 8 4g cameras out and they do nothing but eat batteries. I do not recommend these cameras unless you own stock in a battery company!!! I put new batteries in 3 cameras last week and they are already showing 2 bars left. Also, once my cameras reach 2 bars of service they no longer send me pics, only stores them on the card...9hrs from me.

Chase how many pictures are you getting in this time? Also is the cameras firmware up to date and do you have power save turned on in the camera settings? What is the camera model, GC-??? What kind of batteries are you using?

The battery meter is not like a fuel gauge, it is reading voltage so once you see that starting to drop depending on the type of batteries that you are using you should plan on getting to the camera pretty soon.

What model camera? GC-what? Is the firmware current? Do you have Power Saving ON? What setting are you using, photo only (and how many), photo + video, video only?

What type of batteries are you using? Is it cold where the cameras are located?

Since your cameras are so far away, you may want to consider using external batteries, with or without solar. That's not saying that 200 pics on a set of batteries is normal because it is not, but relying in batteries to power distant cameras is likely to result in frustration and disappointment. You're basically hanging a cell phone on a tree.
