Only takes pics and status updates in setup mode

It won't send a requested status report until the camera checks in sending a picture or scheduled report. Is the SD card to spec, 32gb or smaller, class 10 80 mbs or faster and a full sized card, not a micro in an adapter? Does the green blinking when you turn it on eventually stop? Are there pictures on the SD card that it's not sending?

Yes, the SD card is to the specs. as you indicated. The green only blinks for 10 seconds or so when I close the door. I am not sure if there are pics on the new SD card and newly formatted using this new camera.

You can view them on the screen by pressing the playback button (arrow)

I did the default thing you mentioned to someone else and it seems to be working at least for the moment. Many thanks!

Do you know if we can request a picture be taken like we can request a status update? I did not see this option in the pull-down list.

You can’t request a photo with either GoCams or Ghosts, just with GoLives.

You can't request a picture but you can set up scheduled pics throughout the day so the camera will send you a picture(s) at the same time every day even if there's nothing there to trigger the camera.

Hey guys I just bought a go cam too and am having the same problem, could you please explain the “default” mode that helped fix the camera, thanks!

Default is an option in the cameras menu. It just takes the trigger settings and sets them back to the way the camera was when it was new.

I have the same problem with the camera only taking pictures when I was setting it up, the last status update was from then, and I requested a new one and it’s still pending. I’ve also had deer on my other trail cam which I switched out every morning and night, so there’s something to capture, thanks.

    Alex,

Please start a new post and include a screen shot of your status report from the app, from the signal/battery symbols down through the SD card info, as well as a photo of your SD card (it can be from a web site if you bought it online).

Alec, did you do the default?

I ordered a new sd card, coming today. So when I put it in I first do it on set up mode and format the sd card correct. Then turn onto on? I remember doing the first test you can do and it passed and then failed every other attempt, thanks. Thought I started a new discussion thing to chat on here but I’m all new to this, thanks!

Here's what I would do, install the new SD card and go into the menu and first format the card and then default the camera. Then wait for it to hopefully find signal. Once it finds signal press the OK button once to take a picture and then press it again to send the picture. Watch what happens and what it says on the screen. Hopefully it eventually says "SENT"

Thanks! The photo sent last time, just nothing after I left. Sorry to be a pain but where exactly is default in the settings?

It's in the cameras menu. I believe you press over to the right twice and then scroll down.

Confirming that it's in the third menu tab, scroll down. It's below Format and several other items. You're not being a pain.

Sounds good, so once I receive the test photo I can switch it to on then I should be good?

Yes, but after you switch it to on I like to make sure it sends a motion trigger pic before I walk away.

Alright, sounds good I’ll leave a comment after I get back from work on how it goes.

So I got a new sd card 32 gb 120mb per second. Put it in formatted the sd card and set the camera to default. Passed all the test and took a picture on set up mode. Turned it on and dumped my mineral out. Got 3 pictures of me during that. Set up a automatic status report at noon and picture taken at 8pm. Which neither happened. Starting to become disappointed with the camera after following all the steps and having all the specs with full reception.

Did you request the settings update AFTER you left? If so, the camera won't update to get those check-in settings until the next time something triggers it.

When you change settings when setting up a camera, you want to request the settings change then trigger the camera, either by taking/sending a manual photo, or by motion-triggering it.

Is the settings change command still pending in command history?

Make sure the time zone is set in the camera settings on the app

I changed the settings when I was there and time zone is set. I am not sure what to do anymore

Have you run this camera at home for at least a couple of days? Can you please post screen shots of the settings, preferably in order from top to bottom?

Yeah sure, and I was hoping not to waste me date plan as I already wasted a week of it. Not sure how to put a picture win here either.

Several messages up, I replied to you with a link to an article showing how to post pics here.

Did you leave a message for Customer Service? They’ll call back. You can also email support@spartancamera.com.

I’ve never considered it a waste of data to run a camera at the house for a few days to be sure it’s working correctly. In the long run, it saves a lot of frustration and wasted time.
