searching network
I have a GoCam from US Cellular. A couple of weeks ago the batteries went dead, after I replaced the batteries it says searching network and won't ever pick up a signal. I assumed the SIM card was bad, so I took the camera to US Cellular Store and they gave me a new SIM card and activated it. It still says searching network and eventually give me an error message "Register network failed, please check your SIM card and restart."
I have replaced the batteries, SIM card, SD card, taken all the batteries out, etc. I have three other cameras on the same plan, same deer lease, etc. and they are all working fine. I don't know what else to try.

Not only swap the SIMs, but also swap SD cards and antennas. If any of those fixes the problem, you’ve identified the problem. If none of that does, then you may have a bad camera.
Even though the firmware is current, you may want to try updating the firmware manually by downloading the FW file from the web site (Support, Support again and you’ll see the download page). Sometimes the FW gets munged when the batteries die and reinstalling it fixes the problem.

The newer cameras have an update firmware option in the cameras menu, if not follow the instructions in this link. It's towards the middle of the page.

I just got a replacement ghost camera yesterday and have spent all day trying to set it up. I am having the exact same problem. I have tried dozens of times to turn it on and twice it had full signal and signed in. I have been unsucessful in trying to get it to log in for the last 20 times i have tried. I think it needs the firmware updated but it wont log in so it cant get the upate. Please help

Scott,
See the link in the post immediately above yours. That’s where you download the firmware.
Does your replacement camera have a data plan (either you added it to your Verizon cell phone plan or you got a new data plan from Spartan)? It won’t use your old camera’s plan, at least not on Verizon. I don’t know what happens if you are using a Spartan plan.
Also, make sure you are using a formatted SD card that meets specs:

I don’t know if this short video might help.

Scott, I’m replying here because the message you are getting isn’t related to the firmware video post you posted on.
Is the Spartan plan active? When you buy the plan, you should get an invoice email but then there’s an activation email. Did you get the activation email? That message means that the camera isn’t connecting to the network for some reason. Could be the antenna, could be something wrong with the SIM, could be the data plan, could be the SD card, could be firmware. (I’m just listing possible causes, not saying that they all might apply to your situation.)
camera menu, third tab, does Information show the correc5 firmware date?
