Try defaulting the camera in it's menu. Is the cameras firmware up to date?

Yes, the firmware is up to date.  I have tried to default it and reset anything I can.  It always says system busy.

Have you tried a different SD card? Is the camera the 3g camera or 4g camera. If you can I would go to one of your working cameras and swap the SIM cards and see what the results are, if the camera finds signal. Then try swapping SD cards and see if that makes a difference at all.

Not only swap the SIMs, but also swap SD cards and antennas. If any of those fixes the problem, you’ve identified the problem. If none of that does, then you may have a bad camera.

Even though the firmware is current, you may want to try updating the firmware manually by downloading the FW file from the web site (Support, Support again and you’ll see the download page). Sometimes the FW gets munged when the batteries die and reinstalling it fixes the problem.

Once I download the FW file onto the new SD card, how do I update it on the camera?

The newer cameras have an update firmware option in the cameras menu, if not follow the instructions in this link. It's towards the middle of the page.

I just got a replacement ghost camera yesterday and have spent all day trying to set it up.  I am having the exact same problem.  I have tried dozens of times to turn it on and twice it had full signal and signed in.  I have been unsucessful in trying to get it to log in for the last 20 times i have tried.  I think it needs the firmware updated but it wont log in so it cant get the upate.  Please help

    Scott,

See the link in the post immediately above yours. That’s where you download the firmware.

Does your replacement camera have a data plan (either you added it to your Verizon cell phone plan or you got a new data plan from Spartan)? It won’t use your old camera’s plan, at least not on Verizon. I don’t know what happens if you are using a Spartan plan.

Also, make sure you are using a formatted SD card that meets specs:

I have 8 cameras and have sold many more as a distributor. I have tried 3 different sd cards and 2 sets if batteries. It has a new Verizon plan from the spartan site. I have tried several times to save the update on 2 different sd cards but i guess im not doing something right.

What happens when you try to save the update to the SD card? Make sure you are saving it, not trying to open it, and that the file name is only letters and digits with no spaces, parentheses, or digits within parentheses.

Scott, I’m replying here because the message you are getting isn’t related to the firmware video post you posted on.

Is the Spartan plan active? When you buy the plan, you should get an invoice email but then there’s an activation email. Did you get the activation email? That message means that the camera isn’t connecting to the network for some reason. Could be the antenna, could be something wrong with the SIM, could be the data plan, could be the SD card, could be firmware. (I’m just listing possible causes, not saying that they all might apply to your situation.)

camera menu, third tab, does Information show the correc5 firmware date?

Scott, check the antenna and make sure the little pin inside isn't broken off the bottom of it. Also if you are trying to get the camera working inside maybe go outside and see if that helps.
