Status reports provide information about things like signal quality (or strength for older models), power voltage, photo count, firmware date, and SD card capacity/usage.
Status reports are sent with every transmission (photos, HiRes photos, and videos; scheduled event or requested status reports).
There are several ways to view the status report.
App
On the home page of the app is a very abbreviated status report showing just the signal strength and battery level indicators. There are two ways to view the status report page in the app.
- Tap the status report info on the left side of the screen under the camera description
or - tap the Camera Options button on the right side and then select Status Report from the menu.
The top part of the status report looks like this:
- Camera Description
- Signal icon
- Battery icon (which is really an indicator or the current power source)
- Status as of is the date and time of the last time the camera contacted the server.
- Signal Quality (for newer cameras with current firmware, older models and older firmware may show signal strength rather than signal quality)
- Internal voltage is the internal battery voltage (all models other than GoCams, their status report says Power Voltage)
- External voltage is the voltage of the external power source, whether AA, 12 V (with or without solar) or a solar panel alone (all models other than GoCams)
- Temperature
- Photos This Month is photos and videos transmitted this month. The count starts at midnight server time so you will see photos from the last few hours of the last day of the previous month included in this count.
- Photos Lifetime is all photos and videos transmitted during the time the camera has been registered to your account.
- Model
- IMEI/MEID
- ICCID
- Warranty will show Good and the warranty expiration date, Expired and the date it expired, or Not Registered and Add Warranty if the camera warranty hasn't been registered.
- Firmware shows the firmware date. If it's the latest version, "Firmware is Up To Date" is shown in light gray. If it isn't the latest version, Update will be in orange until you tap it to request the update, then it will be in gray until the update is complete.
The rest of the Status Report looks like this:
- Camera Location displays the latest location info. Location info is not updated with each status report so if the camera has been moved recently, it may take some time for the location to be updated. (GPS-enabled cameras only. Camera on, Locator on. If camera is turned off, Tracker must be on.) Tap Show Map to see the map (screen shot on the right). Location is close but it is not TV cop-show accurate.
- Data Usage and Billing Cycle are shown only for cameras on Spartan data plans. Tap Manage Plan to go to the Data Plans page.
- SD Card shows space used and total space on card. If the card is full, you probably should Format it even if you have Overwrite on.
- Command History shows the requests you've sent the camera. See example screen shot below.
Portal
Use a browser to log in to Spartan Camera - Manage your Wireless Camera.
The portal Status Report information is similar to that on the app Status Report but it does provide specific LAT and LON info and the Timezone.
Only scheduled event or requested status reports are sent via email (Auto, or if you specify an email address for status reports in Delivery Options on the portal). The information is quite limited and the power information isn't useful for any model other than a GoCam.
