Here are photos showing cameras and some of the area that they cover, followed by example photos from each camera set. These cameras are in an area with uneven terrain so they are often aimed toward either rising or falling ground.

The distances are approximate, from the ground to the lens.

Notice that in travel areas, the travel path is more diagonally across the frame rather than from side to side or directly toward the camera in almost all examples.

1.5' - 3'

Branch (1.5')

This camera is mounted very near the base of this tree. The ground falls away from the tree then rises to a ridge. Traffic is often up or down to the ridge, on the diagonal.

  

 

NE corner (1.5')

This camera is mounted low, with rising ground in front of it. It's so low that water and dirt often splash on the lens, which is why the landscape cloth is on the ground below the camera.

The night photo below demonstrates what can happen when a camera is low and the rising ground is close. Even with the grass trimmed, there's "blow out" in the foreground. With taller grass, it's even worse. This camera is mounted this low because this is a funnel for turkeys and deer with fawns. In order to get good video of the turkeys and fawns, the camera needs to be low. However, this camera would probably benefit from being mounted a little higher and angled down.

 

 

Bowl feeder (2')

This camera was mounted a little lower, but video of a nice buck cropped his antlers out when he held his head up so the camera was moved a little higher to get more of the top of the feeder. This is more of a concern when the camera is relatively close to the target area.

This camera is mounted with falling ground in front of it.

SW corner (3')

The tree is on a steep ditch bank so it's not 3' off the ground in the target area.

9 - 10'

South 2 (10') and Indian mound (9')

These two cameras are almost level but the height off the ground is different because of the locations of their respective trees.

Indian mound (9')

 

This camera is set up to monitor traffic on the track in the foreground and that crossing the road heading away from the camera. Notice that the camera is at a little angle to the road rather than being pointed straight down it. This camera might benefit from being tilted down a little more to get the trail in the foreground. The video of the doe and fawn would be cropped so that most of the fawn's legs would be missing.

 

Gate 1 (9.5')

 

 

Hog trap (9.5')

The camera is no longer at this location but the yellow box shows where it was mounted.

This camera should have been aimed a little more downward so that the most active area (from the gate to the lower edge of the photo) was higher in the frame. Detection was not as good as it could have been because the active area was too low in the frame.

 

South 1 (10')

This camera might have been turned a little more to the left to get a more diagonal view of the trail, but it's high enough and far enough away that it gets traffic on the trail. It's on the side of a ridge so the height off the trail isn't 10'.
