This article will walk you through how to link your Spartan account to onX Hunt.
Before you start
- Update your Spartan app to the latest version: iPhone v4.5.1 | Android v4.5.0.
- You’ll need a Spartan account and an onX Hunt account. You can create an onX account during setup.
- Only cameras you own can be connected. Cameras shared with you as an Admin or Guest will not show on your onX Hunt account.
Supported cameras
All Spartan cellular cameras are supported, including GoCam, GoCam 2, GoLive, GoLive 2, GoLive 3, and Ghost. To get the most out of the onX Hunt features, make sure your camera is using a Spartan Camera Data Plan or Spartan Premium Service.
GoCam and GoCam 2 don't have GPS, so you will need to manually place the camera pin on the map in onX Hunt.
Set up the connection
Step 1: Connect your onX account
- In the Spartan app, go to Settings > onX Connection.
- A message will pop-up asking you to sign in with your onxmaps.com account. Tap Continue, then sign in to onX, or tap Create one to make a new account.
- When sign-in is complete, you'll see the camera selection screen.
If you close the sign-in screen early, it cancels the connection request. You can start again at any time.
Step 2: Choose cameras
- Check each camera you want to connect, or tap Select All.
- Tap Connect, then tap Connect again on the pop-up message to confirm.
Important: No cameras or photos will be shared until you complete this step.
What you'll see in onX
- Your connected cameras, with their name, brand, model, and serial number
- Map pins for cameras with GPS
- New photos, usually within a few minutes, with the time they were taken and uploaded
Videos, full-size thumbnails, and HD photos will not be transmitted.
Manage your connection
See which cameras are connected
On your Spartan Camera App, connected cameras will show the onX Hunt logo in your camera list and on each camera's details page. The onX Connection setting in Settings will show how many cameras are connected.
To add more cameras
Go to Settings > onX Connection and follow Step 2.
To remove a camera
Go to Settings > onX Connection. Tap the Disconnect button next to the camera you want to remove, then tap Disconnect to confirm.
A removed camera will stop sending new photos. Photos that have already been uploaded will stay on your onX account. To reconnect a removed camera, follow the directions in Step 2.
Disconnect your onX account
This will stop the connection for all of your cameras with onX.
- Go to Settings > onX Connection.
- Tap Disconnect Account From onX at the bottom of the screen, then tap Disconnect on the pop up message to confirm.
No new photos will be sent after your account is disconnected. Photos and camera details that have already been sent will stay in onX.
Tip: To stop sharing just one camera, use the Disconnect button next to that camera instead.
Frequently asked questions
Why don't I see my cameras or photos in onX?
Make sure you have selected at least one camera and tapped Connect. Signing in to onX alone does not share any cameras.
Will my existing photos show up in onX?
No. Only photos taken after you connect the cameras are sent.
Why do photos look lower quality in onX?
onX receives a smaller version of each photo. Open the Spartan app to view the full-size photo.
Why don't I see my shared camera in the list?
Only cameras you own can be connected to onX.
What's the difference between the two Disconnect options?
The Disconnect button next to a camera removes only that camera. Disconnect Account From onX at the bottom of the screen stops sharing all your cameras and unlinks your onX account.
I renamed or moved my camera. Why hasn't onX updated?
Changes made after setup, such as a new name or location, are not updated in onX.
Can I connect more than one onX account?
You can connect your account to only one onX account at a time. To switch accounts, disconnect from your current account, then reconnect to the new one.
Why is there a gap in my photos after reconnecting?
Photos taken while you were disconnected are not sent to onX.
